ANXIETY

While most of us worry or feel anxious at some point in our lives, those who experience generalised anxiety find it particularly difficult to control their worries. On the whole, their feelings of anxiety are more persistent and often begin to affect their daily lives.

People living with anxiety may experience panic attacks which causes them to feel totally out of control of their feelings, emotions and body. Panic attacks produce very real physical symptoms, from a rapid increase in heart rate to sweaty palms and shaking. These physical symptoms are naturally unpleasant and the accompanying psychological thoughts of terror can make a panic attack a very scary experience.

I can help with this be using a person centred approach. I go at the clients pace and trying to understand how their anxiety effects their life by offering empathy and understanding. Once the client feels comfortable we can focus on management and coping stratagies that work best for them.

SUICIDAL THOUGHTS

A person contemplating suicide is often in enormous turmoil inside - perhaps at one moment wanting to die and the next to live. It can be that at the moment you are so overcome with feelings, sadness, despair, that you are not able to think clearly about other possibilities, other solutions, other alternatives, other ways of coping.

It can help enormously to have someone that will pass no judgment on you and not only want to listen to you but ensure you feel heard. I am here to help you to feel held and supported during those darkest moments.

PTSD

Post traumatic stress disorder is a type of anxiety disorder that may occur when someone has witnessed or being involved in an serious traumatic event which then leads to them to being depressed or having flash backs, panic attacks or severe anxiety.

ANGER MANAGEMENT

Many of us already know if our anger is a problem. However for lots of people this is not as obvious as it should be because we tend to hide our anger from ourselves and others so we don't have to feel it or react to it either because it is not safe or we are afraid what we might do.

Together we can work to identify and overcome your triggers and also learn how to recognise when anger is becoming a problem.

BEREAVEMENT LOSS

When we think of loss and bereavement we think of a death but loss can come in many different forms, loss of identity, loss of a home after moving, loss of a friendship.

when a person has been bereaved they can have a mixture of emotions and can wonder why their feelings are so intense and can last for much longer than we may expect or it could be the case the person is suppressing their emotions out of fear they may not be able to control them once explored. However part of therapy is normalising this and for myself to offer a space where we go at your pace and when ready we can look at how we can refrain from suppressing these emotions and start to release them by exploring what the loss means for them.
